Speech Growth

This entire quarter we have been working on oral presentations and becoming better speakers. I have deffinetly improved my speaking technics in both tone quality and hand gestures. My eye contact has improved, but sometimes I struggle with not just reading right off my power point. Also, my hooks could always be better and I should also work on memorization. Overall, I am glad that we worked on public speaking, and I have learned alot about oral presentattions which will help me to be more prepared for life after college.

How to Drive a Manual Transmission Speech:

My how to speech on learning how to drive a manual transmission went pretty well. My topic gave me plenty of things to talk about, so time was not a problem at all. I made eye contact with everyone in the room, and maintained eye contact throughout my speech. Also,  I feel that I did well with my enthusiasm and kept with my own personality while speaking.

One thing I could improve on is my actual explaination of the topic. I need to practice more on explaining, and not just assume that people know what I'm talking about. But otherwise I think I did pretty well on my speech. This speech was fun because I was allowed to talk about and explain something that I really enjoy, driving a manual transmission.

Informative Speech

My informative speech was about Habitat for Humanity. Overall, I thought I did well; I used hand gestures and maintained eye contact for the majority of my speech. I could have paid better attention to the people on the edges of the room, but overall, I thought I did well. One thing I could have dont to improve my speech was to have more pictures of the houses that Habitat builds. I only brought in one picture, and my presentation as a whole would have been stronger if I had more visuals. The informative sppech was fun because it allowed me to talk about something I enjoy, Habitat for Humanity.

Brown Bag Speech Journal:

My brown bag speech was decent for the first speech of the semester. I could have had better posture, and shown my items up better. I was hard to understand at some points, studdering over myself and forgetting what I was going to say next. I actually thought I did well with enthusiasm and explaining how I felt about my topics. I was incredibly nervous and my voice was very shaky as well. Overall though, I thought my speech went well, although this is always more to improve on.

Satire: This picture is an example of satire due to the woman's extravagent hat. The author of this comic is making fun of women's dress in order to show how silly they look.

Terms:

Parody: This picture is an example of a parody because it is an imitation of an original piece of artwork. It is also making fun of the original artwork because this piece was very simple and plan farming people, and now it has been changed into a modern business couple.
